Self-Paced Courses- Accreditation Process

The self-paced course accreditation process is divided into 5 sessions, with each session lasting 60-90 minutes.

ICAgile accredits courses against internationally-recognized Learning Outcomes (LOs) and assesses the design of the course to ensure high-quality learning experiences for course participants. Accreditation of self-paced offerings is currently only available for the following courses:

  • Agile Fundamentals (ICP)
  • Business Agility Foundations (ICP-BAF)
  • Agile Project & Delivery Management (ICP-APM)
  • Agility in Marketing (ICP-MKG)
Self-paced courses are more complex than instructor-led courses. They require additional technology and a deep understanding of asynchronous learning patterns. Therefore, the self-paced course accreditation process is divided into 5 sessions, with each session lasting 60-90 minutes.

After attending a session, any feedback or action items must be completed before attending the next session. This is designed to prevent costly and time-consuming re-work later in the process.

Here’s what to prepare and what to expect in each session:

Session 1: 

  • What you need to provide:
    • Course outline
    • Overall time frame for the course- how many hours of video, reading, exercises, etc.
    • Planned learning modalities (i.e. video, quizzes, reading, written exercises, collaboration experiences)
    • Accreditation matrix- Align the matrix with the course outline. It does not need to be complete, but show what you have planned so far.
    • Access to your Learning Management System
  • The focus of this session is on: Overall design, tell us how you will know your class is successful

Session 2: 

  • What you need to provide:
    • Content scripts- including video scripts and activity lead-ins, preferably for the majority of the class
    • Accreditation matrix- it should be nearly complete at this stage
    • Learner resources (i.e. any additional reading, activities that learners need to do outside of the class)
  • The focus of this session is on: Coverage of the Learning Outcomes

Session 3:

  • What you need to provide:
    • The hands-on experiences in your course- exercises, activities, assignments, quizzes, etc. Show how you assess if the learning is sticking.
  • The focus of this session is on: Coverage of the Learning Outcomes and learning stickiness

Session 4: 

  • What you need to provide:
    • 1-2 finished modules in the LMS
    • Accreditation matrix fully completed for the 1-2 modules presented
  • The focus of this session is on: The full student learning experience for 1-2 modules

Session 5:

  • What you need to provide:
    • The completed class
    • The fully completed accreditation matrix
  • The focus of this session is on: All of the above
