Guidelines for Offering Hybrid Learning Experiences

The hybrid modality allows students to choose how they attend—while engaging with the same materials and instructor in real time. It offers flexibility and inclusivity, catering to different learning preferences and needs.

To ensure inclusive, accessible experiences for learners participating in a hybrid learning experience, ICAgile has created the following guidelines.

  • Learners must be aware that they are signing up for a dual-delivery experience. This allows for informed consent of the experience.
  • To ensure an inclusive and engaging experience, no single learner may be in a given modality; both in-person and remote participants must have peers in their learning environment.
  • Group work should be conducted within the same modality whenever possible to enhance collaboration and communication.
  • A proper tooling and tech setup must be in place to enable active collaboration between in-person and remote learners.
  • A dedicated person, separate from the instructor, must be available to troubleshoot any tech issues.
  • A speaker cam and a cam with a full classroom view or a camera that follows the instructor must be used to enhance the learning experience.
  • The instructor must have access to a process or tool that allows the instructor to monitor remote learner engagement and re-engage them when necessary to ensure they meet all requirements for the credential.
