Different Delivery Modes
Definitions
- Asynchronous Learning: Asynchronous learning occurs when both the instructor and student are not online or in the classroom at the same time. Examples of asynchronous learning may include the student reading content on their own, the student watching e-learning components that present content with voiceover, and the instructor providing quizzes that can be completed by the student without the presence of the instructor.
- Synchronous Learning: Synchronous learning occurs when the instructor is teaching students in real time, or the students are working together on activities under the guidance of the instructor. Synchronous learning can be conducted in person or via an online platform.
The following delivery modes are supported by ICAgile:
- In-person class: The instructional portion of the class is conducted in person.
- Remote class: The instructional portion of the class is conducted online synchronously using a video conferencing tool, like Zoom or Teams.
- Blended class: Some portions of the class is conducted in person, with the remaining portion of the class conducted synchronously remotely. (Sometimes known as Rotational Hybrid Learning)
- Hybrid class: Students participate in synchronous sessions, with some attending in person and others attending online at the same time. The instructor teaches both in-person and remote students simultaneously. (Sometimes known as Dual-Delivery, and Synchronous Hybrid Learning)
